THEME
“Becoming and Belonging” is a juried visual arts exhibition exploring the evolving identities of individuals and communities within society and history. It considers the tensions and harmonies between selfhood and society, migration and rootedness, memory and transformation.
In this exhibition, we invite you to explore the intertwined processes of transformation and connection. How does our identity evolve and how do we find (or create) spaces where we truly belong? Reflect on the fluid nature of selfhood, community, and cultural identity in a world that is constantly shifting.
Consider the ways we shape ourselves and are shaped by others. Speak to personal journeys of migration, growth, and self-discovery, or reflect collective narratives of heritage, displacement, and the longing to find home.
The theme “Becoming and Belonging” invites us to think about identity as an ongoing act of becoming that unfolds through our relationships, environments, and experiences. The exhibition celebrates multiplicity and transformation, about how we fit into predefined spaces, or how we create new ones.
ELIGIBILITY
Entry to this show is open to all WCA-Texas chapter members provided dues are up to date. Members from other chapters in the WCA are welcome to join the Texas Chapter to enter the exhibition. Non-member artists are welcome to enter without becoming a member by paying a fee for each work submitted.
As part of the national organization of women artists, membership in the Texas chapter offers excellent opportunities to show artwork, network with other women artists, and gain leadership skills.
Entrants are encouraged to become members of our chapter of the National Women’s Caucus for Art. Membership benefits include free exhibitions, seminars, workshops, a great bookclub, leadership opportunities, and networking. Membership fees are $70 if you include our Texas chapter.. ENTRY FEE
Exhibition entry is $5 for WCA-Texas Chapter members to enter up to 3 submissions. Non-members are required a fee of $40 for the first submission, and an additional $15 each for up to 3 submissions. Entry acceptance is not guaranteed and fees are non-refundable.

ARTWORK REQUIREMENTS
We’re excited to celebrate our theme. All selections for the show must be inspired by the theme. Abstract works can tie to the theme by use of an appropriate title. The venue for this show will not accept hatred or violent content of any kind.
Artists may enter up to 3 works. Works must be original. Works must not exceed 30 inches wide, including the frame, to fit on portable panels.
Artwork must be ready to hang, preferably with wire. The frame must be securely and professionally presented. Mats and frames must be professional quality and in good condition. Works on paper must be under glass or Plexiglas. Pedestals are available for sculptures (no plexiglass on top).
For artwork that doesn’t have a title directly connecting to the theme please include an additional statement up to 25 words explaining how the artwork ties into the theme.

If shipping your work, you must notify Exhibition Chair Paola Núñez Solorio (paola.ns@gmail.com)
Artwork packed in shipping peanuts will not be accepted. Shipped artwork must arrive with a prepaid return shipping label. Without these labels, the work will not be accepted. Returning artwork will be shipped via FEDEX or UPS. A member, members, and/or volunteers of the Women’s Caucus for Art - Texas Chapter will prepare and return ship the artwork.
LABELS
Complete and affix labels to each work. See end of this document for labels.
PRIZE
A $250 prize will be awarded for the best in show. 2nd and 3rd place are $50 each, chosen by the Exhibition Chair Paola Núñez Solorio.
SALES
This venue does not take a cut! Artists receive 100% of purchase price. Sales will be handled directly by the artist.
INSURANCE AND LIABILITY
Each artist is responsible for the insurance and safety of their own artwork throughout the duration of the exhibition, including transportation, installation, display, and removal. While every effort will be made to handle all works with care, the organizers, venue, and staff are not liable for any loss, theft, or damage to the artworks. Artists are encouraged to obtain their own insurance coverage if desired.
PICK UP OR RETURN SHIPMENT OF ARTWORK
Pick up date
August 10, 2026, 8:30 - 5 pm
Artwork not sold must be picked up by August 10, 2026. All artwork not picked up will be either return-shipped by the WCA-Texas Exhibition Chair, Paola Núñez Solorio, or as pre-arranged by the artist with the Exhibition Chair.
ENTRY PROCESS
Please read the full prospectus and follow the instructions. Complete labels as shown below.

Include good quality photography JPGs with sharp focus, under 2MB. Do not include frame. Label the files with the name of the artist and title of artwork. “LastName_Title.JPG”

LEGAL AGREEMENT
Please read the agreement below. Entry into this exhibition constitutes agreement to the terms.
Agreement:
With the submission of artwork to the WCA, Texas chapter and Our Lady Of the Lake University, the artist agrees to all terms set forth in the prospectus. If the artwork does not meet the specifics of the entry and/or theme requirements, the artwork will not be accepted. The artist understands that the work will be shown to the public during the venue’s open timeframes.
